How To Maintain Your Car Brakes

This is one of the things you don’t want to go out in your car, because if the brakes are bad or outright not responsive, you need to make sure that you get these fixed before you make any attempt to get out on the road. While everyone knows the importance of car brakes, not everyone knows how to best maintain them, but proper maintenance for your car brakes is extremely important, especially if you have a car like a Corvette!

Here are some of the best ways to make sure that your car brakes are maintained and will always stop the car whenever you need it to stop!

Check The Brake Pads And Rotors

While the braking system of a car can be hard to understand, like all things it can be simplified. Whenever you push down on the brake pedal, the brake pad is the point of contact during this action and it stops the car. However, this interaction causes heat that can affect the brake pads, especially if you are slamming on your brakes often.

So make sure that you are keeping an eye on your brakes if you are smelling a burning odor or you are finding that you need to depress your brake pedal further to stop the car, this is a problem because this means that it takes much longer to stop the car. During an accident or a situation where you need to stop, you need to make sure that you can stop on a dime, without ruined brake pads and rotors increasing the distance it takes to stop.

Don’t be afraid to take the tires off of your car and investigate the brake pads and rotors, and make sure to have any damaged components replaced either by yourself or by a professional.

Flush and Bleed Your Brake Lines

Whenever you press down on your brake pedal, pressure is sent from the brake fluid from the master cylinder and through the brake lines and that ends up reaching the rotors to stop the car. Brake fluid is the messenger that connects you and your car’s braking system, and you need it to work.

If your brake fluid gets too much moisture inside of it, then the metal parts in the brakes can start to corrode and the brakes can be affected. Additionally, excess air can become trapped within the brake line and that can also cause problems for your braking system. So make sure  to take the time to check and change the brake fluid, and also make sure to bleed the brake lines of the excess air to get perfect brakes!

Finally, make sure to focus on the rest of your engine as well, and if you can, you can even pump it up with some C7 engine bay accessories.
